2 Admission to Year 1 of the Diploma Programme

The Diploma Programme at Senja videregående skole is open to students who would benefit from taking this programme and who fulfil the qualifications needed to enter.

Qualifications needed to enter:

  • Year 11 from Norwegian national system general studies, Music Dance and Drama or Sport.
  • IB Middle Year Programme
  • Similar education to the above mentioned i.e. 10 years of general education
  • A satisfactory level of English that will enable students to follow the programme at the required pace.
  • A satisfactory level of mathematics that give basis for choosing the right math course.

If the educational background of the student is hard to determine, the student might have to take an entrance test in mathematics and English. In addition, students might be called in for an interview if the school is unsure about the student’s motivation and determination about doing this programme.

Students apply directly to the school using our online application form. In addition, they apply electronically through www.vigo.no, a platform used by all schools in Norway. Students without a Norwegian personal identification number can only apply directly to the school. Application deadline is 1st March.

For students living in Norway:

Senja videregående skole is a state school that is primarily an offer for students living in our county, Troms. According to Norwegian law, all students between the ages of 16 to 20 have the right to admission to an upper secondary programme of their choice.

If there is a shortage of places available, students with good academic records and students who master English better than Norwegian as a language of instruction, will be prioritized.

International students:

International students are welcome to apply if they have the qualifications needed to enter and have the possibility of receiving a study permit from the Norwegian government. Students from our partner school Gimnazia 9 in Murmansk, Russia have priority.
